Jack Sparrow, the son of Captain Teague, was born in British Colonial India and spent his
childhood learning to sail from his father. Once he reached his teen years he became a
stowaway and ended up in Tortuga for the first time in his life. There he met a bar maid along
with a nobleman's son. Seeking treasure and adventure the trio left Tortuga aboard a tiny
fishing ship called The Barnacle, which became Jack's first command.
After many adventures and many more years, Jack became employed by the East India Trading
Company. Sparrow helmed the Wicked Wench, an EITC merchant vessel, performing odd
jobs for Cutler Beckett. When he refused to transport slaves and instead freed them in
Africa, Beckett sanctioned the torching (and sinking) of the Wicked Wench, and literally
branded Jack Sparrow a pirate. Sparrow came to embrace his outlaw status, becoming a
successful pirate with no desire to return to life under the command of others.
Later, he petitioned Davy Jones, the legendary “Devil of the Sea,” to raise his ship from the
ocean floor, and rechristened her the Black Pearl. Jones granted Sparrow captaincy of the
ship for thirteen years, after which Jones would own Sparrow's soul.
Life was grand for Captain Jack Sparrow for about two years until one night his entire crew
mutined against him and marooned him on an island to die. However, Jack escaped the island
and vowed revenge against his mutinous 1st Mate, Barbossa. Finally, after plotting for ten
years, he exacted his full revenge by killing Captain Barbossa and reclaiming Captaincy of the
Black Pearl.
Once again life was good until Davy Jones returned to collect on his dept. Jack eventually
found himself in "the Locker," but was able to escape with the help of his crew, and a few
others, who needed his help to defeat Cutler Beckett who was bent on ridding the world of all
pirates.
After helping defeat the forces of Lord Beckett, Jack found himself
stranded in Tortuga watching the Black Pearl sail off into the
distance.
Average in height and build, Sparrow relies more on intelligence,
agility, and quick wit to protect himself, rather than physical strength.
Sparrow holds his own in duels by using a combination of acrobatic
swordplay, trickery, and using any available object as a weapon.
Sparrow learned swordplay from an Italian fencing master in exchange
for captured Chinese silk. He later trained himself to shoot by aiming
at empty wine bottles tossed from the Black Pearl’s deck rail, and is
presented as a skilled marksman.
He carries a number of items on his person, which he collectively calls "my effects". They
include his pistol, sword, coat, and an unusual compass. Oddly, he does not seem to feel
the term "my effects," includes his hat, which he always specifies separately.
Captain Jack Sparrow believes that pirates can still be good men although he himself has
quite the criminal record. He is a decent, if self-serving, man who does his best to adhere
to the "Pirates' Code."
In the Pirates of the Caribbean© Trilogy the part of Captain Jack Sparrow is played by Johnny Depp.
Rodger Dobry is also the official Captain Jack Sparrow model for Tyrannical Piratical Treasures.

Pirate History:
Captain: Whether he commanded by election or imposition the pirate captain was the supreme commander aboard his ship. The men sailed where he told them
to, fought when and whom he told them to and on the whole were ruled by him. In such action, he was allowed to strike, stab or shoot any man who disobeyed his
orders. He also had power of prisoners and whether they were ill-used or freed, but no power over the captured vessel or cargo as the task as handled by the
Quartermaster. He was usually chosen for being "Pistol-Proof", having a dominating and daring character.
For the elected captain his position was a precarious one, his men would obey him as long as he kept making sensible orders and brought them success, if he failed
they would vote him out of office and elect another in his place. For the captain who ruled by force the position was equally precarious, if he failed to lead them
successfully he faced mutiny and possibly death.
