The East India Trading Company: (aka. East India Company)
Established by European explorers who discovered the exotic riches of the East Indies during their initial voyages to the
region the EITC was a joint stock company that came to monopolize trade in the East Indies and the Caribbean. The
company was granted an English Royal Charter by Elizabeth I on December 31, 1600. With trading voyages sponsored by
English merchants hoping to profit from gold, silver, ivory, silk and spices, the company grew in size and power. It began
to expand into the Caribbean when the attention of the company's leaders turned to the area's rich plantations. The
company ultimately expanded so much that any threat posed to it was a threat to Britain itself.

Name:
Phineas Black
Biography:
Phineas Black was born to a wench who kept him locked in a small wardrobe. All Phineas saw of the world
was through a tiny crack. The only time his mother let him out was so he could steal food and drink for her.
He would have to sit and watch as she ate most of the food only to give him what little scraps there was left.
Phineas soon started taking more time when sent out for food, not wanting to go back to his mother anytime
soon. He also started developing quite a skill in stealing. By age ten, Phineas had run away and was making a
career out of stealing purses and picking pockets.
At age twelve, Phineas was attempting to steal a pocket watch from a man. That man turned out to be
Constable John Malcom. Instead of arresting Phineas, the constable decided to take him in. Phineas lived with
the constable for many years, learning to read and write. He also took quite quickly to drawing. Phineas
became a fine young man, far from the thieving scoundrel he was as a boy. Constable Malcom was very proud
of Phineas, always referring to him as his son. The constable even got Phineas a job as a map maker with the
East Indian Trading Company.
Phineas loved making maps, unlocking the mysteries of newly discovered lands. Things turned very sour
however as Phineas learned that the EITC had begun transporting and selling slaves. Having spent his entire
childhood a slave to his mother, Phineas was determined to put a stop to the their deeds.
Eventually he discovered the name of the man in charge of transporting the slaves, Captain Jack Sparrow.
Phineas stowed away on Captain Sparrow's ship, the Wicked Wench, planning to kill him while the rest of the
crew slept. That night, tucked in the shadows, Phineas over heard the Captain talking to the First Mate about
setting the slaves free. Phineas revealed himself at once, volunteering to help.
When the head of the East India Trading Company found out that Captain Sparrow was freeing the slaves
rather than transporting them to the Caribbean, he sanctioned the torching and sinking of the Wicked Wench
and branded the entire crew as pirates.
Now, branded and betrayed, Phineas embraced his new found title and became a successful pirate. Having
been a master thief as a child, his old habits came back to him like an old friend. Now he stole more than just
purses and pocket watches. Jewels, gold, silver, and priceless works of art were all for Phineas’ taking. He had
always dreamed of seeing the places he drew on maps and really discovering their mysteries. After traveling
many a far and distant land he eventually reunited with Captain Jack Sparrow and now sails the Caribbean.
Phineas comes and goes upon the Black Pearl when the need suits him. He is still always looking for the next
big adventure. Over the years he has become a master in the use of a whip and has no fear in using it if anyone
dares challenges him.
