Biography:
Not a lot is known about Jack Sparrow before he showed up one day in Tortuga looking for a crew to help him
go after the fabled treasure of the Isla de Muerta. Back then he was the captain of the Black Pearl. That was until
one night when his entire crew mutinied against him, marooned him on an island, and left him to die. However,
Jack escaped the island and vowed revenge against his mutinous 1st Mate, Hector Barbossa. For ten years he
roamed the seas plotting to exact his revenge, until one day when he made port in a town called Port Royal.
Crafty, cunning, and a little bit odd Jack has seen most of the world and has his share of enemies in it. Average in
height and build, Sparrow relies more on intelligence, agility, and quick wit to protect himself rather than
physical strength. Sparrow holds his own in duels by using a combination of acrobatic swordplay, trickery, and
using any available object as a weapon. He is also noted as a remarkable marksman.
He carries a number of items on his person, which he collectively calls “my effects.” They include his pistol,
sword, coat, and an unusual compass. Oddly, he does not seem to feel the term “my effects” includes his hat,
which he always specifies separately. Captain Jack Sparrow believes that pirates can still be good men although
he himself has quite the criminal record. He is a decent, if very self-serving, man who does his best to adhere to
the Pirate’s Code.

and during battle, decided which treasures to pursue and determined the best course to achieve them. The Captain of the
ship was elected by the crew by popular vote and could be disposed in the same way if the crew deemed it necessary for
the ship to have a new Captain.
In the Pirates of the Caribbean© movies the part of Captain Jack Sparrow is played by Johnny Depp.
