Biography:
Elizabeth Swann, the daughter of Governor Weatherby Swann, grew up in England's high society. At a young
age she showed an interest in pirates and would often fantasize about meeting a one and living a life at sea. Her
fantasy may have been fueled somewhat when one day she met William Turner. Elizabeth and her father were
en route to Port Royal from England when she spotted Will clinging to floating wreckage, the victim of a pirate
attack. The crew members rescued him and she was put in charge of his care. Over the years she grew a deep
fondness for Will but, her being a lady of stature and him being a black smith's apprentice, never pursued a
relationship with him. Growing up in Port Royal was quite uneventful and a bit boorish for her tastes. That was
until one day when her childhood wish came true and she finally met a pirate. His name was Jack Sparrow.
Elizabeth Swann is a passionate and strong leader. Over the years of dealing with pirates learned the art of
sword play and is now a very skilled and fierce fighter. She cares deeply and loyally for those she loves and is
always willing to do whatever it takes to protect them.

The Dead Man's Chest:
The infamous pirate Blackbeard marooned 15 of his crew that he considered mutinous upon a tiny island off Tortola in
the British Virgin Islands. The island was known to sailors as "The Dead Man's Chest" as nothing could live there except
lizards, snakes, and mosquitoes. Each mutineer was handed a cutlass and a bottle of rum, in the hope that they would
kill each other. Blackbeard returned a month later to find that all fifteen men were still alive. The incident sparked the
verse in Stevenson's book Treasure Island:
